Lodgers Tax – 5.00%

2. Additional Fees
Cleaning Fee – A one-time cleaning fee will be charged. This fee varies based on the room/suite/condominium. Sales tax applies.
Mid-Stay Cleaning Fee – $15 per clean. This is a non-taxable item.
Extra Person Fee – A one-time fee of $30.00 is charged for the use of a rollaway bed and is allowed based on maximum occupancy rules. If two rollaway beds are allowed and requested, then an additional $30.00 fee is charged. Sales tax applies.
Lost Key Charge – $25 per set of keys. This is a non-taxable item and only applies when keys are not returned by a guest.
1. Reservation Policy
A reservation is not guaranteed until confirmed by The Powderhorn.
2. Deposit Policy
50% deposit at time of booking, balance due 30 days prior to arrival.
3. Cancellation Policy
Bookings cancelled at least 30 days before the start of stay will receive 100% refund.
Bookings cancelled at least 14 days before the start of stay will receive a 50% refund.
Bookings cancelled 14 days or less before the start of stay will not receive a refund.
No refunds for weather-related issues including but not limited to road conditions, lack of snow, too much snow, or inability to get to the property due to weather or flight delays/cancellations; or issues resulting in weather conditions such as power outages, etc.
As reservations are carefully scheduled in advance, no refund will be given if a guest decides to leave prior to their departure date, regardless of reason.
Unforeseen and uncontrollable circumstances may occur during a guests’ stay including but not limited to, internet, TV, and utility outages, inclement weather, limited availability of TSV resort services, the closing of The Powderhorn hot tubs. Guests are not entitled to full or partial refunds for any unforeseen or uncontrollable circumstances.
A guest may opt to receive a credit for the full amount of the reservation toward a future stay within 12 months, subject to availability, minimum night stay requirements and nightly rates. The guest must rebook right away to guarantee availability and rate. The guest will receive an email 32 days prior to final payment and can cancel for full refund within 30 days according to our Cancellation Policy.
The Powderhorn does not charge an additional fee or service charge for cancellations.
4. Travel Insurance
It is suggested that guests purchase travel insurance (especially in the Winter season). The Powderhorn is located in a small resort destination, so last minute changes or cancellations are extremely difficult for us. Trip cancellation insurance will usually compensate the guest, should their trip be interrupted in any way.
5. Penalties and Fines
The Powderhorn does not charge a security deposit. A credit card will be kept on file for incidentals. Guests will be responsible for charges due to damages to a room/suite/condominium and/or breakage of any items within the room/suite/condominium incurred during the stay dates.
6. Reservation Changes
Requests for a transfer from one date to another must be made at least 30 days prior to the arrival date to avoid any service charge and is based on availability, minimum night stay requirements and room rate. A service charge of $100.00 is assessed for a transferred week if less than 30 days prior to the arrival date.

Cleaning fees may be different based on the room/suite/condominium. If there is any difference in the balance due, this will be adjusted accordingly, either up or down.
There is no guarantee that a request to transfer to a different date and/or to a different room/suite/condominium will be approved.
Requests to change from one room/suite/condominium to another is not permitted after Check In.
7. Pet Policy
The Powderhorn hotel rooms, suites and condominiums are all privately owned. The Powderhorn Homeowners Association Rules and Regulations state that guests are not allowed to bring pets into the building. Management has the right to charge $250 to the credit card on file for cleaning and repairs if pets are brought into the building. (On occasion, owners may be allowed to bring pets into their privately-owned room/suite/condominium while they are visiting.)
Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), service dogs that have been trained to provide assistance to an individual with a disability are permitted into The Powderhorn. This does not, however, include Emotional Support Animals (ESAs).
8. No Smoking Policy
The Powderhorn is 100% non-smoking for both health and safety reasons. There is no vaping or smoking of any kind permitted. This includes all rooms, suites and condominiums, common areas (hallways and lobby) and balconies. Smoking is permitted only across the street and Not in the entry or carport. Management reserves the right to charge $250 to your credit card for cleaning and repairs if you or your guests have been smoking on the property.
Additional Information for Powderhorn Guests
1. Check In
Check In Time is at 3:00 pm.
Early check-ins are welcome if your guest room is available and ready. Please call ahead if you would like to request an early check-in. Otherwise, we can store your luggage and provide a place for you to change if your guest room is not available before 3:00 pm.
2. Check Out
Check Out Time is at 10:00 am.
If you wish to extend the check-out time, please contact the front office to determine if this is possible based on the availability of your guest room. Otherwise, we can store your luggage and provide a place for you to change. Extensions requested past 3:00 pm may incur a service charge,
3. Front Office Business Hours
The Powderhorn front office is open daily from 8:00am to 5:00pm during the Winter Season. In the Summer/Fall Season, the front office is open from 10:00am to 4:00pm except closed on Tuesdays. The front doors are locked after hours for your security.
Complimentary parking is provided for Powderhorn guests in the nearby lots of the resort. For the courtesy of all, the Powderhorn carport is for loading and unloading only. After unloading, please move your vehicle to the nearby lots of the resort.
5. Guest Laundry Services
Guest Laundry Services are available during office hours: $10/load to wash, dry & fold. Please contact the front desk if you require this service.
6. Housekeeping and Amenities
During your stay, Powderhorn staff will not enter your room/suite/condominium, unless requested or in the event of an emergency. William Roam Float Collection shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, and soap and Boyer’s dark roast coffee are provided for our guests. Additional emergency toiletries (toothbrush, razors, mending kit, etc.) are also available at the front desk.
7. Quiet Hours
Please observe the designated quiet hours from 10:00 pm to 7:00 am for the consideration of other guests. This includes turning down TV’s, radios, and games during that time and stopping loud parties or noises. Please also be mindful if you leave the building early or late.
8. Altitude Sickness
Taos Ski Valley is the third-highest US City by altitude at 9,321 feet (2,841 m). (wikipedia.org). Please check with your health care provider if you think you may get altitude sickness. Mogul Medical, is TSV’s urgent care facility which can help you if you get altitude sickness while you are vacationing in TSV. 9. Water Use
The Taos Ski Valley is located in a high alpine environment with a limited water supply. While there is always enough water for your use, the ‘water friendly’ locals treat water as a precious resource. The Powderhorn has been fitted with low-flow toilets and shower heads. We ask that you be mindful of your water use.
10. Ski Storage
Secure your skis on the ground floor by the skiers’ entrance. The small key on the ring with your room/suite/condominium key will operate your locker. Please take your ski boots off in the locker area and leave them under the bench or brush the snow off and carry them to your room. We ask that you do not wear your ski boots up the stairs.
